Business Development Manager

innogy eMobility (ieUK) are looking for an ambitious and talented Business Development Manager to join our dynamic UK team and help electrify the expanding mobility sector.

About innogy eMobility UK
ieUK are a tech company that provides premium German-engineered hardware and software technology for managing and operating electrical vehicle charging.
We sell our internally developed tech mainly via our growing network of reseller partners, who grow their own business by selling our advanced hardware and software to their own customers.
Our advanced hardware technology includes DC chargers from 25kW to 400kW, eBox AC chargers up to 22kW and crucially, a digital connected cloud based software solution that enables customers and network operators to manage their own charging systems. We believe that smart charging is not just the future, but the present and essential to make the change to driving an electric vehicle simple and easy for the driver.
We offer a ready-to-use and state-of-the-art software system for managing a charging network with connected interfaces between vehicles, drivers and suppliers. This includes network services like the connectivity of charge points, detailed POI info, controlling and managing the network to provide access and handle all data management tasks as well as the possibility to service, maintain and upgrade it according to the charge point operator’s needs to make charging networks easy and simple.
We are a small but growing team based across the UK and we’re looking for the right person to join our energetic, passionate colleagues. ieUK is owned by E.ON, a large German energy company and part of the expanding eMobility division across Europe and the USA.

About the person
We need someone with some relevant sales and digital software experience, but importantly, we need someone passionate about delivering great work. You’ll always be striving for success, to learn, suggest and make improvements wherever you see they are needed.
Like most of the UK, we’re all mainly working from home right now so MS Teams is our life, but when appropriate, you’ll need to visit prospects, customers and colleagues where needed.

1. Knowledge and skills of our ideal candidate

  • A successful sales track record working with large B2B and reseller channel customers. Preferably in the eMobility sector, but we are more than willing to consider promising candidates from similar industries with the right skillset to be trained up on product.
  • A history of reliably hitting or exceeding margin targets.
  • Success in developing new B2B technology-related business sales.
  • Demonstrable experience of building and maintaining effective working relationships and partnerships with key internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ability to understand customers’ needs and requirements and translate these into profitable solutions for both customers and innogy eMobility.
  • Ability to monitor and analyse market development to be able to adapt your approach where necessary to increase potential sales opportunities and feedback market analysis to UK and German product teams.
  • Great communication skills with the ability to thrive in international working relationships.
  • Self-driven and highly motivated with a deal-hunting attitude.
  • Good knowledge of IoT, SaaS and platform digital technology solutions.
  • With the nature of this role, you’ll have the willingness to travel extensively in the UK and occasionally internationally.
  • Strong negotiation skills and be commercially astute.

2. Key Performance Indicators

  • Building and managing a sales pipeline for hardware and digital software technology including advanced and connected chargers and cloud-based back end digital solutions.
  • Generation of opportunities from new and existing networks to drive forward the business. Building on existing relationships across a number of sectors like the automotive or petroleum industries and identifying opportunities of new strategic relationships through specific business targeting.
  • Support for the wider commercial, operations and finance teams so tasks are completed in a timely manner.

3. Problem Solving/Complexity

  • As in all smaller local teams, members must be flexible and willing to undertake a wide range of activities during daily business, including some not normally be part of the job description for an equivalent position elsewhere. It is a requirement that the individual filling this position has an aptitude to learn new skills, to think for him/herself, and be able to work in an environment where routines may vary as circumstances dictate.
  • Supporting with handling of partner and customer queries in relation to product and advising the best solution that meets their needs.
  • Supporting all processes and procedures to maximise the back-office system functionality and support the delivery of training to external partners.

Digital Marketing Manager – Office and home based

Working Hours:
This role would suit an experienced marketeer who’s looking for a part time role, or someone who’s looking to grow their experience by working full time.

Objective of the role:
Improve our digital presence, manage all digital interfaces with customers and prospects to drive leads and ensure customer satisfaction.

Principal Responsibilities:

  • Manage and develop the UK website by working closely with the digital marketing team in Germany.
  • Build and execute a digital CRM based communications plan with prospects and existing customers.
  • Work with BDM team to ensure they have a suite of digital sales assets to aid the sales process (i.e. slides, pdfs, videos, web pages etc)
  • Work with Social Media Manager to develop a coordinated social media plan across all channels.
  • Manage our PPC and SEO activity (via an agency)
  • Liaison with central marketing team in Germany.
  • Deliver campaigns across multiple channels that generate quality leads for the BDM team.
  • Monitor effectiveness of marketing campaigns and report impact.
  • Provide monthly marketing update, proactively identifying additional requirements.
  • Develop case studies for use with prospects.
  • Manage a small number of external agencies.

1. Main Purpose of Job

  • innogy eMobility Limited are seeking a highly-skilled, professional technical support team member to join our dynamic UK support team, working alongside counterparts across the wider business. You will support with all hardware and software technical matters in the UK and provide ongoing support to our technical team based in Germany to assist with continued improvements.
  • You will work collaboratively with clients/users, the development team in Germany, and various stakeholders throughout the innogy group, to ensure that all technical matters relating to product training, installation, commissioning, operation and maintenance of all the products supplied by Innogy eMobility are delivered in an efficient, effective and timely manner.

2. Principle Accountabilities

  • Provide effective Technical Support functions for electric vehicle hardware charging technology supplied by the company.
  • Support the UK team for all back office software requirements and queries.
  • Deep dive and drill into electric vehicle charging infrastructure via the advanced innogy back office software to investigate, troubleshoot, resolve, document and record issues raised by internal and external partners.
  • Improve the effectiveness of the Company’s communication to both internal and external partners on solutions to technical issues and support UK Sales Teams on Technical pitches to customers.
  • Provide product support and other technical support functions to the supply chain in the most efficient manner for all concerned.
  • Provide technical support to the operations department and the wider eMobility team.
  • Provide relevant technical information to Operations staff to enable proper operation and maintenance of EV charging equipment.
  • Raising monthly analysis Reports, installation issues and installer feedback in accordance with routine and ad-hoc reporting requirements.
  • Take an active role in the “Installer/Customer Product Training” sessions to internal and external partners across both hardware and software.
  • Provide support to internal and external partners on the processes and procedures on achieving and maximising the functions of the back-office software.
  • Manage the onboarding process of new customers using our back-office platform.
  • Supporting CPO (Charge Point Operator) Clients with technical issues

3. Key Performance Indicators

  • Hardware / Software technical issues are resolved in a timely manner (SLAs TBC).
  • Internal and external partner technical queries are resolved in a timely manner (SLAs TBC).
  • Support for Commercial team and Sales team tasks are completed in a timely manner.

  • Supporting with handling of partner queries in relation to identifying electric vehicle charging infrastructure error codes and advising the appropriate course of action. For example, ensuring that the sequence of actions/instructions are carried correctly, this can be communicated by either verbally or via documentation.
  • Conducting site visits and Interpret downloaded data taken from electric vehicle charging stations showing an error message, not operating correctly or not communicating with the back-office system to identify and trouble shoot the root cause. Then communicate findings following lessons learnt in a format that can be easily be followed and understood.
  • Supporting all processes and procedures to maximise the back-office system functionality and support the delivery of training to external partners.

5. Knowledge and skills

  • Essential: Working knowledge of Electrical Infrastructure technology.
  • Essential: A proactive approach to problem solving
  • Essential: Good people skills.
  • Preferred experience working in the Electric Vehicle sector but not essential.
  • Preferred understanding of Back-Office platforms.

  • Desired ability to coach, train and inform customers/installers/colleagues.
  • General knowledge of OCPP, OCPI and API’s.

  • 3+ years working in electrical infrastructure.
